oh my, look at this, the comments are now a mess! some i replied to last page so let's try to regroup the unanswered again. -.-;

re: goodness, i really hated how Kaichou- turned out. well, it was kinda creepy at the first but then it just turned the love interest into an obsessive controlling jerk. tho i have to say, the absolutely frigging worst "romance" anime has to be Itazurana Kiss. i hate that shit from the bottom of my black feminist heart for all the reasons you listed and then some. Special A too. And Tonari no Kaibutsu, this season's unromantic pissfest. arrgggh, eff that shit!

re: you don't have to go far to find disturbing relationship portrayals and gratuitous sex abuse, some wildly popular franchises have them in spades: Twilight, 50 shades, Game of Thrones etc. also, unnecessary rape scenes seems to be the staple in every other fantasy book i read (or used to, i now do a spoiler search to avoid crap like that before buying: if the author can't be bothered to find a good backstory/challenge for the heroine/s i don't wanna read it). i think i shed tears of joy when i read the Hunger Games and saw none of that stuff.

re: well, some...uh, ok...a few mangas are decent but yes, trying to find one is a nerve-wracking task.

so many comments in the last page. :D

it is a sad commentary on today's society and how we're still quite under the horrid belief that anything to do with rape or abusive relationships is okay.
i haven't read twilight or 50 shades, but i've heard about them, and its so horrible that women (and young girls) everywhere are latching on to these main characters as role models...
i always thought if i had a book written about myself it'd be pretty short because if anyone treated me the way these 'heroines' are treated, i'd slap them silly and give them a piece of my mind simultaneously...

also, i can't believe damian was eavesdropping outside, and that he burst through the door like that...
very surprising, but it does say a lot about his character. :)

I noticed the eavesdropping too!
Andeuh, I believe a lot of feminists (in some way) read this comic! And I must say, feminists (not in the strict way of the word) are still needed, if I see some videoclips on the tv, I somethimes wonder if the the women participating in those clips have any selfrespect... (personal opinion though)

Never seen any of the twilight franchise movies thank you very mucho.
Will never spend a second on a book like that massively produced "vampire soft-core romance/porn" stuff that are the rage this past few years.

You must be reading the wrong stuff in any case... fantasy isn't that rife with rape.
It's used in many cases to make the evil dude even more hated but it isn't that generalised.
Few series actually get into the horrid details.

GoT should be ignored after the first 3 books.

Sci-fi has no such stereotypes + has a lot of no-shit women characters.
Evan Currie's Warrior's Wings series as an example.

I don't feel the high testosterone all I can focus on is the track pants outfit. Isn't that what ladies in their 80's wear lol

I must have been studying too much. Good page though just ignore crazy me.

Young kid just got owned. It may be harsh, but the old guy is right. She has to face this part of the career or change her career.
